Loopy Looper - 12 hour challenge

When:  Saturday, August 1, 2020  (Registration opens 2/1/20)

Location: Cooper River Park - Jack Curtis Stadium: 1301 North Park Drive, Pennsauken, NJ 08109

Race Start: 7:00am

Race End: 7:00pm

All finishers will receive a finisher's award and a t-shirt that includes the race logo below. We will have a little something special for those that complete a distance of 10, 15, or 20 loops. There will be awards for the top Male/Female of the event.

The race will be held on a 3.75 mile loop on a paved path around Cooper River Park. The course is mostly flat and you will run as many loops of it as you can/want in 12 hours. This is one of the fastest looped courses in the country and a great chance to put in some serious mileage.

Registration Fees:

$90 through 4/1/20

$100 through 6/15/20

$115 through 7/25/20

Teams (4-Person Relay)

$360 through 4/1/20

$400 through 6/15/20

$460 through 7/25/20

Time Limit:

Runners will have the hours of 7:00 AM - 7:00 PM to run as many laps of the 3.75 mile loop around Cooper River Park as you want. No new laps will be allowed to start after 6:30 PM, and partial laps will not be counted. Runners must complete their final loop by 6:59 PM for it to be counted. No laps finished after 6:59 PM will be counted. This requires some strategizing by runners to optimize your day.

Relay Option:

Teams of 4 will run the loop in a relay-style, with a maximum of 1 runner on the course at any time. Teams can still take breaks like individual runners and the finisher rules below also apply to relay teams.

Pit Area and Aid Station:

This will be a very well supported event. We plan to have one fully stocked aid station with all the standard ultra running goodies at the Start/Finish line and one water station out on course. The aid station will have things like PB&J, chips, candy, soda, water, sports drinks, pizza, and much more.

At the Start/Finish area at the stadium, there will be a drop/pit area for you to stash your stuff for the day. We ask that you do not bring any tents larger than 10x10!

This is August and it will likely be hot. Having a personal water supply on the course is mandatory, and plan to drink and eat more than you usually do.

Finisher Rules:

To be counted as a finisher you need to be on location at 6:00 PM and have completed at least one full loop of the course. No medals will be handed out before 6:00 PM! We don’t care if you’re out there grinding out as many miles as possible in the 12 hours or if you ran a loop and spent the rest of the day helping out your fellow runners. You’re still a finisher and you’ll still get your medal. We just ask that if you are not running all day to do something productive like actively helping other runners.

Course Records:

Male: Michael Gagliardi - 71.25 Miles (2019)

Female: Lara Miller - 67.50 Miles (2019)
